Posted Monday, May 12, 2008 by Grace Margain
This past weekend at CIF prelims in Moorpark was a great historical event for ERHS. Temeri Julkes was faced with many higly regarded athletes as she competed in the High Jump. Kayce Obiesie also competed in the high jump and came close to qualifying for CIF Finals next week. With very little training, Josh Mitchell, went out and gave his best, running an impressive 50.07 seconds in the 400m. Caleb Potts ran 1:58.44 in the 800m. Finally, Kenny Anderson ran under 50 seconds--running an impressive 49.81 seconds in the 400m. The 4x100 girls ran a personal best (PB) in 50.53 seconds. And, they ran an astounding 4:09.38, eclipsing their 4:15 time. Camille Petty ran an impressive 25.74s in the 200m, and 58.96s in the 400m! And finally, our CIF Finals qualifyers for next week are: Bryan "Speedy" Adams who ran 48.31s in the 400m which earned him the best time in Prelims to move on to Finals. The Boy's 4x100m qualified running 43.00s in the 4x100m. Our, all to famous, 4x400m team ran 3:22.57 ranking them 2nd overall to move on to Finals. And, last but not least, Austin Hill who ran 39.94s the 300mIH. The boy's received so many compliments Saturday from other coach's. Byran Adams was offered a chance to run in Nebraska at the Junior Olympics this Summer because of his impressive time. Another 400m runner from JW North will accompany him along with two others to create an amazing 4x4oom team for the Junior Olympics.
